JOHN MYLREA 1861 Peel
This is the last will and testament of me John Mylrea of the town of Peel made the twenty-sixth day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty. I leave and bequeath to my aunt Jane Mylrea wife of Basil Mylrea publican the sum of twenty pounds as a legacy. And lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my said aunt Jane Mylrea wife of Basil Mylrea of the town of Peel publican executrix of this my will and residuary legatee of my personal estate. Sheweth that John Mylrea late of the town of Peel aforesaid departed this life about the 1st August 1861 having some time previously thereto duly made and executed his last will and testament whereof he appointed Jane Mylrea wife of ……………….. executrix
That your petitioner is desirous to have the ………………….. established and to be sworn executor thereof Whereof petitioner humbly ………… a hearing for this petition and that the ………. of the said John Mylrea may be established and your petitioner …… of his said wife Jane ………… executrix thereof and petitioner will …… …..
Ordered that this petition do come and be heard at an Ecclesiastical Court to be holden at KK Michael on Thursday and whereof all proper parties are to have due notice. Given this 25th January 1862 R. Jebb
27th January 1862 by virtue of the authorisation of his worship Richard Jebb esq Vicar General I have duly noticed William Mylrea and William Mylrea jnr, John Mylrea, Margaret Mylrea, Thomas Mylrea and Eleanor Mylrea next of kin of John Mylrea deceased to appear before his worship at an Ecclesiastical Court to be holden at KK Michael on Thursday next when called to answer … such and petition of Basil Mylrea in right of his wife Jane Mylrea for probate of the will of the said John Mylrea deceased this 27th day of January 1862. At an Ecclesiastical Court held in KK Michael the 30th January 1862 Upon hearing this petition in the presence of petitioner or their advocate and upon examination of William Cowley and Caeser Corris the subscribing witnesses to the will of John Mylrea deceased I am of opinion that the due execution of the said will has been proved and therefore that probate thereof should be granted as prayed for and the same is so ordered and decreed accordingly. At an Ecclesiastical Court held in Kirk Michael the 30th January 1862 William Cowley and Caeser Corris the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of John Mylrea the testator having made oath on the Holy Evangelist that the testator when of sound mind duly signed and executed the same as and for his last will and testament in their presence Basil Mylrea the husband of Jane Mylrea the executrix is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the said will according to law, to pay all just debts, legacies and funeral expenses of the testator so far forth as his goods will extend and the law bind him and to return a true and faithful inventory of the same with an accurate account of his acts and proceedings in the premises to the Episcopal Registry of this Diocese when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given pledges namely John Kelly of the Bollagh in the parish of German and William Cowley of Peel in the said parish who have entered into and executed the usual Bond in presence of the court. - He was the son of William Mylrea & Jane Plaice, born 1805
- In the 1861 census, he was living with Basil & Janne and listed as a "butler"
- What John did with his life is unknown, and from the list of next of kin, it would seem he had neither surviving wife nor children.
