SALE - 1886 (Lonan)

Know all men by these presents thatJohn Mylroi of Laxey Glen in the parish of Lonan, joiner, for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds sterling to him paid and satisfied by John Edward Lewney of Old Laxey in the said parish of Lonan, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and forever absolutely sell unto the said John Edward Lewney all and singular a certain dwelling house and garden situate near Laxey Beach in the said parish and bounded on the north by the property of the late Richard Rowe and measuring along the said boundary forty-six feet, on the east by the foreshore measuring thirty-five yards, on the south by the property of Edward James Cowley measuring forty-six feet, and on the west by the property of the said Edward James Cowley measuring thirty-five yards, all the foregoing measurements are clear of boundaries to have and to hold the said dwelling house and garden with all ways, waters, watercourses, easements, rights and privileges thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said John Edward Lewney, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, the said John Edward Lewney, his heirs and assigns yielding and paying all boons, suits and services annually incumbent thereon, also the sum of ten shillings annually as ground rent thereon to Edward James Cowley of Ballacollister and his heirs and assigns and for the true and faithful performance hereof the said John Mylroi binds and obliges himself, his heirs and assigns unto the said John Edward Lewney, his heirs and assigns firmly by these presents.   2. John Mylroi was the grandson of David Mylroie jnr & Catherine Quayle, and the only surviving son of Daniel Mylroie & Mary Ann Teare
  3. John b1830 was a builder in Laxey Glen. He married Sarah Ball in the UK, and had eight children: Thomas (1856), Annie (1859), John (1860), Sarah (1863), John James (1865), Rebecca (1867), Benjamin (1869) & George (1872). Surviving sons Thomas & Benjamin both became builders
  4. The witness to this Deed, Benjamin Mylroi, was one of his sons
  5. Children: Annie died 1860, John died 1863, Rebecca died in 1868, Sarah & John James died a month apart in 1877, George died in 1892. His wife Sarah died in 1888
  6. John, his father Daniel, and his son Thomas all died within a brief period, leaving Benjamin and his young sons as the only surviving males from Daniel's line
